Happy October!

If I had to chose a favorite season, autumn would probably win I love the changing leaves and the cool, crisp days. It's October, time for pumpkin patches and warm apple cider. And of course, Halloween! This year, as you prepare for the cooler weather and the festivities ahead, why not help help others at the same time? Several amazing artists over at Etsy have graciously decided to donate 20% of their profits to whatchagonnado.org, my brother and sister-in-law's organization to help families with a child with cancer. 10 sweet years

We spent our tenth anniversary at one of our favorite places--the San Juan Islands. One hour before we left, I checked our reservation to see what campsite I had reserved, and realized I had only reserved two nights, not three. After packing for two straight days, I was not going to wait another day. So, we decided we would drive up the Olympic Peninsula on our way, and camp there. Here are a few pictures from our wonderful trip!

Saturday getaways

It's been awhile since we've had a free weekend, so we've seized the last two for some family trips! Last weekend we were trying to think of somewhere to go where we'd never been, when Paul suggested Stonehenge. Since we couldn't hop a plane to the real one, we hopped in the car and drove up the Columbia River Gorge to a small copy of the real one--only this one is made out of concrete, using machines--not quite as impressive, but it did the trick for a fabulous family day! We read up on its history, played tag, had a picnic of tea and oatmeal (it's what we had in the car...) and soaked up the sun! This past weekend we did it again--back to the gorge, but this time to the waterfalls. We hiked, had a picnic, got soaked in the spray, and took some time to reflect on loved ones lost. Two wonderful weekend trips. Where will we go next week?
